Summary
This regulation provides unit policy, criteria, and administrative instructions concerning individual decorations, service medals, combat and special skill badges, and similar devices awarded in recognition of personal accomplishments. The goal of the unit awards program is to foster mission accomplishment by recognizing excellence of all members of the unit and motivating them to high levels of performance and service.

Medals and Citations

Distinguished Service Cross Awarded for extreme acts of heroism, defining the highest levels of integrity against an enemy.
Distinguished Service Medal Awarded for exceptional meritorious service in performance of a job capacity.
Silver Star Awarded for superior heroism or gallantry in action against an enemy.
Legion of Merit Awarded for performance of excellent staff service.
Soldiers Medal Awarded for exceptional leadership, conduct, professionalism and maturity.
Bronze Star Awarded for heroic acts of service against an enemy.
Can be awarded a Combat V attachment for actions not equal to Silver Star.
Purple Heart Awarded to a soldier who has been injured and has survived the round.
Army Commendation Medal Awarded for outstanding service to the unit.
Army Achievement Medal Awarded for donation of 20 USD to further the unit's success.
Can be awarded upon the Commanding Officer's request.
Good Conduct Medal Awarded for no disciplinary actions during a period of three consecutive months.
American Defense Service Medal Awarded for graduation of unit Basic Combat Training.
American Campaign Medal Awarded for graduation of unit Non-Commissioned Officer School.
*Additional awards denote each paygrade past E-5, Corporal.
European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal Awarded for participation in one official unit match.
World War Two Victory Medal Awarded for participation in one official unit match in which the unit was victorious.
National Defense Service Medal Awarded to the victorious platoon in a platoon vs. platoon match.
Army of Occupation Medal Awarded for six consecutive months of service.
     
Distinguished Unit Citation (DUC) Awarded to all personnel serving on a particular date at the commander's discretion.
The award signifies an important event or merit which belongs to the unit as a whole.
Meritorious Unit Commendation (MUC) The Meritorious Unit Commendation is a mid-level unit award of the United States military which is awarded to any military command which displays exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service, heroic deeds, or valorous actions. Service in a combat zone is not required, but must be directly related to the combat effort.
Valorous Unit Award (VUA) The Valorous Unit Award is the second highest unit decoration which may be bestowed upon a U.S. Army unit (the highest being the Presidential Unit Citation) and is considered the unit equivalent of the Silver Star. It is awarded to units of the United States Army which display extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy of the United States of America.
